D's Slam Military Servicemen

If you’re still wondering why people think Democrats are weak on defense and lack respect for members of the military, here’s a story sure to make your blood boil.

Arizona Republican State Representative Jonathan Paton was deployed with his Army Reserve Intelligence Unit to Iraq a few weeks ago. And the local Democrat Party is using that AGAINST him, fretting that Paton might miss part of the 2007 legislative session because of his service to the nation.
“Paton has been absent for most of the campaign due to his recent voluntary Army Reserve service in Iraq and he has missed all candidate debates/forums for the General Election,” complained Pima County Democrat Party Chairwoman Donna Branch-Gilby in a press release on Friday.

“Southern Arizona needs a State Representative who can guarantee that he will show up for the job and represent his constituents,” chirped in some guy named Chalie Salaz in the release. “The voters of Arizona should not pay the price for an ‘absentee’ legislator.”

Another guy named John Soltero added that it was “irresponsible” for Paton to volunteer to serve his country while running for office. “You didn’t see President Bush leaving to volunteer for active duty in Iraq when he was running to do the job of President.”

Huh?

And we’re going to trust the nation’s defense to THESE people?

The Fatal Flaw of Polls

Now more than ever polls are conducted with questions phrased in a way to get a specific answer...this is called "push polling" and it is no more accurate than the evening news has become...

Example..a couple of years ago I got a call from a polling organization and after the opening pleasantries..the first question was this....

"Would you support lowering property taxes even if it would mean less funding for public schools?"

Now the real question was those first six words...anything after that was meant to make you answer no...

Polls are generally commisioned by someone or some organization..and they are not going to pay to find out they are on the wrong side of an issue...keep that in mind when you read or answer polls....

By the way...I answered yes, the guy asking the questions said..and I quote, "let me ask this again to make sure you understand"...tell me the guy wasn't "pushing" to get me to say no!

The Face of a Party

While it is true that there are many self professed "conservative" Democrats and there are many "liberal" Republicans, the plain and simple truth is that when choosing your party of choice you have to look at the parties national platform and it's leaders and so called shining stars.

Sen. John Kerry recently insinuated that U.S. service members are uneducated, he quickly back peddled saying that his remarks were merely a botched joke...if this is the case it is still just as bad, here we have a leader in the Senate and someone who wants to be President of the United States thinking that proper material for the humor section of his presentation should use the U.S. Military as the rube in his jokes.
On the other side of the coin, if it was an intentional shot at the military then the man needs to be stripped of his citizenship and sent to a country where he will be more content. I do believe that this was an intentional and calculated gouge at the military.

Decide for yourself...

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make and effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
Sen. John Kerry

That's what the man said....

The Democrats stand for...
Big Government
Higher Taxes
More Government involvement in everyday life
Abortion
Gun Control
Homosexual Marriage

The Republicans stand for...
Smaller Government
Lower Taxes
Personal Responsibility
Sanctity of Life
Traditional Marriage
Personal Freedom

All candidates eventually adopt the national parties philosophy, either openly or covertly, remember that when you vote...

Evan Bayh is a prime example, he comes to Indiana and touts his Hoosier values, he campaigns like a conservative and then goes back to Washington DC and votes like the true liberal he is...you can check his voting record yourself....

Kreg Battles Contact

I forgot to mention this the other day when it happened...

I finally got to talk to Kreg Battles on the phone, I asked him about several mail pieces that I had received about Troy Woodruff being soft on illegal immigration even though he talks tough...

I asked Mr. Battles which bill he was talking about...apparently he did not know the bill, but after someone in the background spoke he told me that it was an amendment to a bill that Rep. Woodruff had voted against...

I asked Mr. Battles if the bill was HB1383, he said yes and I asked him which amendment he was referring to..after another pause he told me it was the Aguilera amendment.....

I looked up the Bill on the State Legislature site and found the following HB1383 basically places restriction on illegal immigrants in Indiana...

The Aguilera Amendment places some specific requirements on employers who hire illegal immigrants and specific penalties on employers who violate the requirements of the bill...

What I find curious is the following....the roll call vote (RC127) for the amendment passed 55-43... but when it came time to vote for the bill in its final form...most of the folks who worked so hard to get the additional language put into the bill voted against it....

Do your own research on this but ask yourself....
1.Why all the wrangling and time wasting getting language added to a bill you're going to vote against anyway ?
2.Did someone put a poison pill in the bill designed to kill it?
3.Was the bill killed just for the option of having ammunition in the upcoming election?

I don't have any input on this from the Woodruff campaign at this time but I'll see what I can do, Mr. Woodruff may not be speaking to me since I've given him much grief over the Daylight Savings Time passage.
