Kreg Battles Contact
I forgot to mention this the other day when it happened...
I finally got to talk to Kreg Battles on the phone, I asked him about several mail pieces that I had received about Troy Woodruff being soft on illegal immigration even though he talks tough...
I asked Mr. Battles which bill he was talking about...apparently he did not know the bill, but after someone in the background spoke he told me that it was an amendment to a bill that Rep. Woodruff had voted against...
I asked Mr. Battles if the bill was HB1383, he said yes and I asked him which amendment he was referring to..after another pause he told me it was the Aguilera amendment.....
I looked up the Bill on the State Legislature site and found the following HB1383 basically places restriction on illegal immigrants in Indiana...
The Aguilera Amendment places some specific requirements on employers who hire illegal immigrants and specific penalties on employers who violate the requirements of the bill...
What I find curious is the following....the roll call vote (RC127) for the amendment passed 55-43... but when it came time to vote for the bill in its final form...most of the folks who worked so hard to get the additional language put into the bill voted against it....
Do your own research on this but ask yourself....
1.Why all the wrangling and time wasting getting language added to a bill you're going to vote against anyway ?
2.Did someone put a poison pill in the bill designed to kill it?
3.Was the bill killed just for the option of having ammunition in the upcoming election?
I don't have any input on this from the Woodruff campaign at this time but I'll see what I can do, Mr. Woodruff may not be speaking to me since I've given him much grief over the Daylight Savings Time passage.
